It does sound like that...and that he is saying he loves you as a friend...but, not as an intimate...lovemaking wise.
I been there, exh was like a brother to me...and I didn't want a brother! He was happy doing his woodworking, work, dogs, etc. but, I kept harping on having a relationship...go figure.
Sometimes I do not know which came first, the realization that love or being in love doesn't last, or the depression...
or, if it even matters.
I know I have loved a man for a long, long, time. I finally had the opportunity to be with him...and was for 5 years. After the initial 'in love impact', doubts set in, the walls came up and I couldn't breach those walls. Finally asking him if he is any closer to wanting a real relationship....to which he said no. He wanted the love and affection...without giving much back. He wanted the companionship, but, not the responsibility of a 'relationship'. He wanted the intimacy, yet was deathly afraid of it.
So, in the end, I started dating another...something I thought I would never do...I thought I would be with my long time love forever...at any cost...in any kind of a relationship...even half a one.
But, time slips by quickly...and it has been a year since I started dating my new bf...and 8 days since he moved in. We are still exploring this new relationship...we are both committed, loving, in love, like minded, and seriously sickly humoured people. We get along in most areas...well, he does want closet space...and I am in a place I never thought I would be again...loving and being loved. We both have our issues...and they aren't little ones...but, we seem to work well together...so we shall see.
