I also believe it is a symptom of depression, though some meds can make things worse. My husband tried Wellbutrin a year ago and it made him feel angrier. He went back to his former medication because he did not like how aggressive he felt on Wellbutrin.

Each person's brain is wired a little differently so some people have to try a number of different meds before finding the best one.

My husband is not generally nasty, but when his depression has been most severe he is not a pleasant person and has been quite harsh with our children at those times - which did cause huge problems.

One of the things about depression is that people who struggle often externalize things. That means they blame other people or situations for their unhappiness, rather than realizing that they might be responsible. On the other hand, some also feel tremendous burdens of guilt and try to find relief through negative comparisons, or attributing the problem to another source.

I am sorry for the pain you are experiencing. Keep finding outside sources of support and encouragement. I have to constantly balance my life by choosing activities and friends which are a source of life and encouragement.
