She has been prescribed Zoloft. Ironically, her doctor prescribed it for PMS 5 years ago before the depression was identified. She was (and occasionally still can) get violently angry where she never did before. It began approx '98.

Sobriety is not a problem. One therapist insisted that she couldn't help us until all alcohol was out of the picture. No glass of wine for dinner or when entertaining, nothing. She identified the condition as a marital problem. It nearly split us up.

No, I am not in therapy. I can't find a counselor who gets this. We have tried 3 together, she has tried 1 more than that. Each one we find is obtuse. Its' PMS, it's ADHD, etc. And, because we are not the experts, we believed them which only made things worse. The depression discovery was an ironic sequence of events between doctors, violent outbursts and Google. Talking together about it, she went back to her doctor to confirm. That's when she upped the Zoloft. With that and with me looking for the right time to have a mutual discussion on depression, we have been doing well.

Lisa, you are asking remarkable questions and I thank you for your incite! You read my first post and have the intuition to drill into the heart of the matter. Why can't we find a Psyche that asks these kinds of questions?

Do you have a counselor that gets this and how did you find them?
