I'm working hard to observe and record what I observe (because it's really easy to forget things, even things that seem outrageous at the time, in the face of all of the chaff).

I do think every person is unique and has different issues -- she doesn't even have an official diagnosis of BPD and the studies are mostly focused on the low functioning BPD types (who are engaging in actual suicide attempts/self harm) so just getting them away from the ledge is considered a "success". I don't know of studies specifically on ones who are high functioning. As the joke goes, low functioning BPDers go into therapy, high functioning BPDers cause others to go into therapy, so who knows whether this means whether that means they have a better or worse prognosis if they actually get into therapy.

And, y'know. Marsha Linehan just came out as having had BPD.
