From prior post: How can one fight this illness? What percentage of a depressive's memories are filled of negativity and sadness , that it creates re-occurring periods of sadness with just memories?
I've found that I can change my thoughts. A negative thought comes into my mind. If I am astute enough at the given time, I can look for the positive or redirect my thought(s) to something totally different entirely. This is really hard to do. Harder to do if you suffer depression where negative thoughts are the norm. Keep in mind part of the disease of depression are negative thought patterns. Breaking these patterns helps cure the disease. It takes lots and lots of practice to do this. I am still practicing!
