Alice0915, welcome to the Board, glad you found us, sorry you had to. First, let me tell you that this is not your fault, you have done nothing wrong. You trusted your instinct and fell in love with a good man. Unfortunately that man has a medical condition that he does not understand or recognise and it dictates his behaviours, not him. D is an insidious, selfish disease and if this is what he actually has (you mention that he acknowledged that might be an issue, but not if he had ever been diagnosed) then without acceptance that it is there and that he needs professional help, it is unlikely to just go away. Alot of the literature says that a first episode of D can spontaneously remit within 9 months to a year, however you dont mention his age and it is not clear if this is likely to be his first episode, you do mention that he is a bit of a loner, which may indicate that he has difficulty sustaining relationships, including friendships and that to me would indicate that he has probably had previous episodes which has cost him. Read Anne's books to help you understand that there was a third party in your relationship, one that you had no control over and I hope that it will help to bring you closure. In one way, as has been said here before you have dodged a bullet before your involvement got too deep or binding. Please feel free to come to us here on the Board whenever you feel the need to ask questions or just have a rant. This Board has been a lifesaver for me on more than one occasion and we are all here to help each other,
hugs,
Erin
