So funny, my ex said in the the first breakup that he thought our relationship had an inevitable hopelessness. Which I couldn't fathom, because I thought our being together was inevitable.
I have come to understand that that prediction, self-fulfilling prophecy, really, is all about his inevitable hopelessness to sustain any relationship. He has not moved forward at all since leaving me. He has in fact regressed in all relationships. However, he reports himself at peace. No relationships signal no expectations from anyone. Zero unpredictability in his life right now, while mine seems really unpredictable.
Ironically, throughout our romance he claimed himself a believer in the "organic" motion of a relationship - going with the flow. However, he also often mentioned his fear of being unable to sustain relationships. "I blow them up" So if you are approaching relationships organically, how can you predict them. Totally hypocritical really
