Yep, my xDGF has also been on anti-depressant for a few years, and then this past year something went terribly awry. Well...she also went off something late last summer, which is when I think her behavior started. Sometimes I think meds may need to be adjusted too.

From everything I've read, the combination of correct medication and good counseling are the keys to someone getting better. The first thing is of course them wanting to get help. So if you want to continue trying to help him, I would focus on nudging him to seeing a counselor and checking in with his prescribing doctor on the medication. Keep in mind, he may not like to hear this and may get angry.

The thing about depression is it replaces love and respect. Sad, but true.
