Hi Anne:
I am becoming more concerned with my DW's condition. She has been D for almost a year now. She has been on AD for 8 months and has shown very little improvement. She still cycles between 1-2 OK days and then 2-3 rotten days. What concerns me the most is that everytime she goes somewhere in public she claims that someone is either following her or harassing her. Usually its someone who just talks to her like a cashier or a fellow customer at a store. She obsesses about what the person says to her off and on for days. She also feels that colors represent things (such as someone wearing certain colored clothes). My main question is can Depression lead to a more severe form of mental illness? I have also found out that both her great-grandfather and her grandmother were institutionalized so I was wondering if their mental illnesses have been passsed down to her.
