Ever just do something on a whim?
Haven't heard from DSO in about 3 weeks. On a whim called him, fully expecting, as per usual, he would not answer. I gave up on emails, leaving messages, texts months ago. The phone rang and went right to voicemail.
Then , 5 minutes later,he called back. Said he noticed I had called on his phone display. All I said was, "How are you?" We exchanged some shallow pleasantries, chatted about work for 30 seconds, and then he asked why I had called him.
All I said was I was thinking of you and wondered how you were doing.
Sounds pretty tame huh? But it's the first time in 10 months, I could ask him, "How are you?" and the first time in 10 months he returned a phone call.
Not reading too much into this, but it was nice to have a pleasant 2 minute conversation with my husband.
Wild how that means something, huh? Only us fallouters can understand.
